Point Arena is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Willits is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Pirates will welcome the Wolverines at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Point Arena barely beat Credo the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 33-23 margin over the Gryphon on Wednesday. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Gryphon recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Hattie Piper was incredible, getting on base in six of her seven plate appearances with six runs, three stolen bases, and one triple. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Montserrat Cruz, who got on base in six of her seven plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.

Meanwhile, Willits got the win against Laytonville on Tuesday by a conclusive 17-2.
Lisa Arkelian was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). Arkelian was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chloe Wright, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Addie Jones was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Willits has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Point Arena, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Point Arena has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .552. However, it's not like Willits struggles in that department as they've averaged .515. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Point Arena suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Willits in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Pirates have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
