Canyon View and Cedar are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Falcons will head out to square off against the Reds at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Canyon View is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
On Tuesday, Canyon View needed a bit of extra time to put away Emery. They had just enough and edged out the Spartans 8-7.
The team relied heavily on Alina Sluder, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Brook Barney also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Cedar came out on top against Snow Canyon on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Reds took their match against the Warriors 7-3. The win was familiar territory for the Reds, who have now won three contests in a row.
Sadie Parson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Shaylee Johnson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kaitlin Bulloch, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Canyon View's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-15. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Cedar, their record now sits at 19-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Canyon View hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Cedar struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Canyon View couldn't quite finish off Cedar in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
