II Section III recap September 24, 2013
Justin Cameron and Tanner Lynn provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Mesquite. The longest such play in II Section III this season, the connection resulted in 83 yards.
Kellis lost to Centennial 65-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Keitre Mitchell was a bright spot for the Cougars, as he ran for 53 yards and caught 2 passes for 26 yards in the loss.
Ironwood's dynamic duo of Cameron and Jourdain Dong proved tough for the Wildcats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Cameron threw for 206 yards and 2 touchdowns and Dong had 80 yards receiving. Lynn helped Ironwood's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 89 yards.
The Eagles' dynamic duo of Cameron and Dong proved to be unstoppable against Mesquite, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
He was 7-19 with 1 interception.
Dong was the best wideout in the league this week as Ironwood fell to Jim Jones' team.
Zach Neill was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 129 yards on 14 carries as Liberty fell to the Wildcats. Tyler Wyatt also contributed to the rushing game with 90 yards on the ground.
Marcus Singleton made the biggest impact on defense this week as Willow Canyon fell to Deer Valley. The 6-foot-0 junior.
Wyatt was a passing and rushing force as the Lions topped Apollo. Wyatt's key target this week was Chad Bennett, who caught 5 passes for 78 yards.
Cameron put up the best numbers through the air as the Eagles fell to Mesquite.
Liberty's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Lions feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Wyatt has thrown for 1,001 yards and 8 touchdowns this season, while Bennett has 17 catches for 259 yards.
The marquee game in II Section III this week will be the clash between Liberty and the Coyotes. Danny Filleman's team comes into the matchup ranked 17th in the state, while Centennial ranks ninth.
Richard Taylor's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 65 points on Kellis.
