After a string of three wins, the Brookhaven Panthers's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 59-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Jones. Brookhaven was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as South Jones apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kordell Collins, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Collins has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Haliburton, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Brookhaven's loss dropped their record down to 20-6. As for South Jones, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-9.
Brookhaven will square off against Natchez at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Natchez is coming into the game with seven straight losses on the road, meaning Brookhaven will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for South Jones, they will challenge Provine at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
