Kewanee is returning home triumphant after the team finally put their road woes behind them against Bureau Valley on Monday. Kewanee came out on top against Bureau Valley by a score of 5-2.
Kalleigh Gale made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Gale was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rylee Blades, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kieryn Abernathy, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Biggsville West Central put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let Stark County get on the board and left with a 15-0 win.
Like Kewanee, Biggsville West Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Miley Stimpson. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. What's more, Stimpson posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Payton Link was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Addie Seitz was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Biggsville West Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .677. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stark County only posted an OBP of .375.
Biggsville West Central's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Kewanee, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
