North Central Kansas recap Oct. 30, 2012
Concordia extended the longest winning streak in North Central Kansas this week by beating Clay Center, 50-6. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Panthers.
Concordia took down the Tigers 50-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Nick Thomas ran for 137 yards in the win.
Clay Center's dynamic duo of Ryan Blake and Danny Ellis proved tough for Tim Lambert's team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Blake threw for 57 yards and one touchdown and Ellis had 43 yards receiving. Jordan Bosch helped Clay Center's passing attack out by catching three balls for 37 yards.
Bosch made the biggest impact on defense this week as Todd Rice's team lost to the Panthers. The 6-foot-0 senior recorded one fumble.
Clay Center's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Caleb Carson has thrown for 598 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Dalton Haist has 21 catches for 271 yards. Carson also leads the league in rushing with 959 yards.
Abilene made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,172 from 9,020. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 27-15 victory over Smoky Valley last week.
