Meyersdale has won 11 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Forest Hills has won 11 straight on the road also dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Red Raiders will welcome the Rangers at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Meyersdale will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Rockwood on Thursday. The Red Raiders blew past the Rockets 15-5.
Meyersdale let Jessica Daughton and Isabella Sleasman run wild. Daughton went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and six RBI, while Sleasman got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Sleasman has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kendell Donaldson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meyersdale hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Forest Hills narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Bellefonte 3-1. The three-run effort marked the Rangers' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Avery Smiach spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, Ana Spangler was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.
Meyersdale now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Forest Hills, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Meyersdale hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Forest Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.2 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Meyersdale came out on top in a nail-biter against Forest Hills in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Red Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rangers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
