The Rector Cougars were the  48-44 winner over the East Poinsett County Warriors when they last played one another  back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Rector took a   55-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Poinsett County.
  Kyla Harston was  her usual excellent self,  dropping  a double-double on 22 points and 19  rebounds for East Poinsett County. Harston is on a roll when it comes to  rebounds, as she's  now  pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's  played.  Jalyn Constant was another key contributor,  scoring 11 points along with five  rebounds.
 Rector has  fallen quite a ways from their 13-6 record last season and are now  at 4-7. As for East Poinsett County, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.
 Rector will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Earle at 7:00  p.m.  on January 12th. East Poinsett County won't have much time to rest: their next  game is against Mitchell at 1:00  p.m.  on January 3rd. Mitchell will have to bring their A-game into this one,  as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 392nd in Tennessee, while East Poinsett County is ranked 176th in Arkansas).
