Basketball Game Preview: Gateway Charter Griffins vs. Oasis Sharks

The Gateway Charter Griffins will take on the Oasis Sharks on Thursday. Gateway Charter has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 215 points over their last three contests.

Gateway Charter is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing East Lee County: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Gateway Charter blew East Lee County out of the water with a 78-40 final score. The Griffins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 25 points or more this season.

Ellie Morin was nothing short of spectacular: she dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Kiari Church was another key player, going 6 of 7 en route to 12 points.

Gateway Charter was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Oasis was beaten by Neumann 52-17 on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Sharks in their matchups with the Celtics: they've now lost six in a row.

Gateway Charter will need focus on slowing down Brynn Stambaugh, one of several Oasis players who made an impact when they last played. She posted nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellye Henkle, who scored four points and six rebounds.

Gateway Charter's victory bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Oasis, their loss dropped their record down to 15-6.

Everything came up roses for Gateway Charter against Oasis when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 74-22 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gateway Charter since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
