The Mize Bulldogs pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Richton 64-59. While losing is never fun, Mize can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while the Rebels are ranked 112th).
Richton found their leader in underclassman Daylin Carter, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Carter is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dave Woulard, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Mize has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. As for Richton, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-7.
Mize does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Richton will head out on the road to challenge the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Collins is on a nine-game streak of home wins, the Rebels a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
