With a playoff game on the line, the Rider Raiders rose to the challenge on Friday. They breezed by Burges on the road to the tune of 57-6. The result was nothing new for Rider, who have now won nine matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Kenji Johnson had a dynamite game for Rider, rushing for 150 yards and two touchdowns. Johnson's longest rush was for an incredible 72 yards. Another player making a difference was Joe Castles, who threw for 117 yards and three touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes.
The victory was the sixth in a row for Rider, bringing their record for this year to 10-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-9 Burges and 2-8 Lubbock (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 39.4% over those games). As for Burges, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.
Rider will look to defend their home field on Friday against Lake Dallas at 7:00 p.m. Lake Dallas is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. Burges does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
