Baseball Recap: Eastern Comes Up Short

The Eastern Ramblers didn't have quite enough to beat the Northwestern Wildcats on Saturday and fell 12-11.

Lucas Campbell made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Eastern's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 4-9-1 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Asa Roessner, who earned one RBI, two runs, and five stolen bases.

Eastern has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10-1 record this season. As for Northwestern, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastern will take on McKinley Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Ramblers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trainers have averaged an impressive 11.1 runs per game this season. As for Northwestern, they will challenge High Point at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
