Warrensburg is 1-9 against the Lakers since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Warrensburg Burgers will head out on the road to square off against the Lake George Lakers at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Warrensburg sitting on three straight wins and the Lakers on four.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 13 to 6 on the offensive boards, a fact Warrensburg proved on Tuesday. They came out on top against Granville by a score of 52-41.
Warrensburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brady Cheney, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Cheney is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Steve Schloss, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lake George earned a 59-46 victory over the Golden Horde on Saturday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lake George to victory, but perhaps none more so than Angelo Bergman, who scored 18 points along with two steals. Bergman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Jack Welch was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with three steals.
Warrensburg is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Lake George, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6.
Tuesday's match will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Schloss and Welch. Schloss has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 23.1 points, 2.3 steals, and 7.6 rebounds. For his part, Welch has averaged 13 points, 1.8 steals, and 6.5 rebounds.
Warrensburg came up short against the Lakers in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 49-44. Can Warrensburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
