The Red River Bulldogs had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on Winnfield with a sharp 26-6 win. The result was nothing new for Red River, who have now won three matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Red River's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Montreveun Smith led the charge by rushing for 89 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Terrell Gary, who rushed for 45 yards and two touchdowns.
Red River's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Winnfield, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Red River will take on Many at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Many knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Red River likes a good challenge. As for Winnfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Mansfield on Friday.
