Basketball Recap: Hillsboro Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Cloe Creech and Aubriana Jordan

After a string of three wins, Hillsboro's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 56-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kennedale Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 65-45 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

Hillsboro's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Aubriana Jordan, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds, and Cloe Creech, who posted 12 points and four steals. That's the most boards Jordan has posted since back in November.

Even though they lost, Hillsboro smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Hillsboro's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 12-5. As for Kennedale, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Hillsboro Eagles take on the Meyer Ravens at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Hillsboro is facing Meyer at the right time seeing as Meyer is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Kennedale, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Godley at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
