3A District 2 recap September 24, 2013
Perkins-Tryon's Tyler Taff recorded the longest rushing play in 3A District 2 this season in his game against Verdigris last week. Taff's team defeated the Cardinals as he sprinted for 51 yards on the play and finished with 86 in all.
Cushing was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Cleveland. The Tigers came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 34 last week.
Bethany's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kyle Duke threw for 150 and 3 touchdowns and Dalton Stout had 93 yards receiving. On the ground Duke contributed 195 yards. Michael Ross helped Bethany's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 26 yards.

Duke was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate Tino Vann added to the ground attack by rushing for 84 yards.

Bethany's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Bronchos feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Duke has thrown for 324 yards and 3 touchdowns this season, while Stout has 14 catches for 208 yards. Duke also leads the league in rushing with 276 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Perkins-Tryon takes on Seminole. Lloyd Wertman's team is in third place, while the Chieftains are in first place.
Bethany made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,032 from 3,809. The advance stemmed from a 48-27 victory over Washington last week.
