Softball Recap: Desert View Has No Trouble Against Pueblo

Desert View lost to Pueblo back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. Desert View blew past Pueblo 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won four matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Jasmine Reyna was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since March 3rd. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mariah Rodriguez, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted over her last ten games. Leyla Garza was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

The victory made it two in a row for Desert View and bumps their season record up to 5-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Pueblo, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Desert View will have a chance to go back-to-back against Pueblo: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
