The Marbury Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They suffered a rough 57-31 defeat at the hands of Pike Road. While losing is never fun, Marbury can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while Pike Road is ranked 91st).
When it comes to explaining why Marbury lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gabrielle Brown . Despite the final result, she scored 14 points. Brown scored a full 45.2% of Marbury's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nasiyah Jernigan , who scored 8 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Marbury has fallen quite a ways from their 23-4 record last season and are now at 1-3. As for Pike Road, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marbury will play host again and welcome Benjamin Russell, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pike Road, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wetumpka at 6:00 p.m. on December 7th.
