North Huron is 8-2 against Deckerville since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m.
North Huron is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They came up short against All Saints Central, falling 13-5.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Deckerville). They were the clear victors by a 26-3 margin over Caseville on Monday. With that win, Deckerville brought their scoring average up to 7.4 runs per game.
Evan Benjey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Benjey was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, Deckerville got a massive performance out of Brandon Salowitz, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Salowitz has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaxen Peruski, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI.
Deckerville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .738. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
North Huron's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Deckerville, the victory got them back to even at 2-2-1.
North Huron couldn't quite get it done against Deckerville when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 10-5. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
