The Ignacio Bobcats lost against the Alamosa Mean Moose back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Ignacio fell to Alamosa 53-47. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ignacio in their matchups with Alamosa: they've now lost five in a row.
Marissa Olguin and Soly Cosio certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Olguin scored 12 points along with four steals, while Cosio scored seven points along with nine rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Olguin has scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Alamosa to victory, but perhaps none more so than Morgan Ortega, who scored 13 points along with seven assists. Another player making a difference was Jaelin Garcia, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Ignacio now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Alamosa, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ignacio won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Pagosa Springs at 2:30 p.m. on January 13th. Pagosa Springs will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. Alamosa won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Montezuma-Cortez at 12:30 p.m. on January 13th. Montezuma-Cortez is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.6 points per game.
