Softball Recap: Apex Snags Sixth Win in Last Seven Games

Apex had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Green Hope on Tuesday. The Cougars were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Falcons. Considering the Cougars have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Audrey Mulaski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Leah Kendall was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Libby Austin, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Apex has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Green Hope, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-14.

Coming up, Apex will host Apex Friendship at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Patriots' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Green Hope, they will head out on the road to take on Cary at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
