The Westerville Central Warhawks will head out on the road to face off against the Pickerington North Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Westerville Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Pickerington North is ranked 14th).
Last Friday, Westerville Central lost to New Albany on the road by a decisive 45-28 margin.
Jaystin Gwinn put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 164 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also threw for 141 yards and a touchdown. Gwinn really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run.
Meanwhile, Pickerington North unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lincoln. The match was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but Pickerington North was just barely outscored by Lincoln in the second.
Despite their defeat, Pickerington North saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Dorian Hamilton, who rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown, was perhaps the best of all. Rafael "tank" Washington made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
The losses dropped Westerville Central to 2-8 and Pickerington North to 9-1.
Westerville Central couldn't quite finish off Pickerington North when the teams last played back in September and fell 16-14. Can Westerville Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
