If the Centennial Eagles were riding high off their 63-38 takedown of the Oakland Mills Scorpions on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Centennial took a 77-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of River Hill on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Wednesday (63), Centennial still had to take the loss.
River Hill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Soma Unegbu led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of OJ Ndu, who scored 19 points along with seven steals.
Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for River Hill, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Centennial is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Reservoir on January 10th. Reservoir will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 266th, while Centennial is ranked 112th). As for River Hill, they will face off against Milford Mill Academy at TBD on Monday.
