The Winchester Community Golden Falcons won the last time they faced the Union City Indians, and things went their way on Friday too. Winchester Community walked away with a 54-47 win over Union City. The victory was all the more spectacular given Winchester Community's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Union City is ranked 13th).
Despite the loss, Union City had strong showings from Conner Walser, who scored 19 points, and Trendon Spence , who scored 13 points along with 7 steals. Walser scored a full 40.4% of Union City's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Zackary Fulk was another key contributor, scoring 5 points along with 5 rebounds.
Winchester Community has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 4-1 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Union City, their loss dropped their record down to 4-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winchester Community will be home for the holidays to greet Union County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Union City won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Knightstown at 7:30 p.m. on December 9th. Knightstown is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
