The Battle Mountain Huskies will square off against the Steamboat Springs Sailors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Battle Mountain is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
If Battle Mountain beats Steamboat Springs with 47 points on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Battle Mountain blew past Vail Mountain 47-23 on Tuesday. While the Huskies didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Battle Mountain's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alejandra Dominguez led the charge by putting up ten points and five rebounds. Elle Glendining was another key player, earning ten points and three steals.
Battle Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Steamboat Springs played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Glenwood Springs, falling 41-18. The Sailors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Battle Mountain has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 39.4 boards per game. However, it's not like Steamboat Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Battle Mountain didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Steamboat Springs in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 34-28 victory. Does Battle Mountain have another victory up their sleeve, or will Steamboat Springs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
