The McCutcheon Mavericks and the Homestead Spartans will face off at 1:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only McCutcheon walked away with it. They had just enough and edged the Raiders out 51-49. Given McCutcheon's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Harrison is ranked 142nd), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
McCutcheon relied on the efforts of Braelyn Williams, who scored 18 points, and Lillie Graves, who scored 18 points along with eight assists and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalea Washington, who scored two points along with 15 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Homestead waltzed into their match on Saturday with five straight wins but they left with six. They came out on top against Columbia City by a score of 57-49.
The win makes it two in a row for McCutcheon and bumps their season record up to 21-4. As for Homestead, their win bumped their record up to 22-4.
