Basketball Recap: Morrill Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Makayla Dykes and Brooklyn Brown

Morrill lost against Gordon-Rushville last Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Morrill Lions lost to the Gordon-Rushville Mustangs on the road by a 46-30 margin. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Morrill's loss came despite strong showings from Brooklyn Brown and MaKayla Dykes. Brown went 5-for-10 on her way to 15 points, while Dykes posted six points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Dykes a new career-high in rebounds.

Gordon-Rushville can attribute much of their success to Braylynne McKimmey, who earned 16 points and four steals. McKimmey has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Dehning, who had nine points and six boards.

Morrill's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Gordon-Rushville, their win bumped their record up to 9-12.

Morrill didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 43-25 victory against Hemingford on the 11th. As for Gordon-Rushville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 64-42 defeat against Bridgeport on the 14th.
