Jolie Duncan was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Oneida got a massive performance out of Kaidance Lewallen, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs Lewallen has posted since back in March. Katie Sexton was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Oneida was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Oakdale unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against Oliver Springs, falling 12-2. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Eagles, who until this matchup were averaging 2.87 runs allowed.
Oakdale saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elexie Cross, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI.
Oneida's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-12. As for Oakdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-2.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Oneida has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .578. However, it's not like Oakdale struggles in that department as they've averaged .562. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Oneida might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Oakdale in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Indians have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
