Mountain Top Christian's's game back in December of 2023 was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with a 56-47 victory over Parkview Christian Academy. Given Mountain Top Christian's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 255th in Wisconsin, while Parkview Christian Academy is ranked 664th in Illinois), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Parkview Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Malkowski, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Malkowski is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Alex Bernicky, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
The victory got Mountain Top Christian back to even at 2-2. As for Parkview Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain Top Christian will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Maranatha Baptist at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. Parkview Christian Academy will be staying on the road on January 8th to face off against Christian Life at 7:30 p.m. on January 8th.
