The biggest upset of the week belonged to Nonnewaug, who took down 147th ranked East Hampton/Vinal RVT, 8-7.
Valley Regional/Old Lyme was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in Pequot - Sassacus. Earlier in the week, the Warriors defeated Old Saybrook-Westbrook 33-17.
North Branford's dynamic duo of Brandan Basil and Chris Caron proved tough for Morgan to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Basil threw for 162 yards and four touchdowns and Caron had 89 yards receiving. Joe Delucia helped North Branford's passing attack out by catching three balls for 45 yards.
Phil Cohen provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Valley Regional/Old Lyme topped the Rams. He completed four passes for 68 yards and also ran for 119 yards. Cohen's favorite target this week was Evan Smith, who caught two passes for 55 yards.
Shayhid Flemming was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 157 yards on 18 carries as Old Saybrook-Westbrook beat the Huskies. Jailan Swain also contributed to the rushing game with 59 yards on the ground.
North Branford's Basil and Caron have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Basil has thrown for 716 yards this season, while Caron, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 18 catches for 282 yards. Derrick Villard from Cromwell leads the league in rushing with 395 yards.
A big matchup in Pequot - Sassacus this week will be when Hyde Leadership takes on the Panthers. The Howling Wolves are in second place, while Cromwell is in third place.
