The Logan Grizzlies will square off against the Morgan Trojans at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Logan will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Logan will bounce into Wednesday's matchup after beating Mountain Crest, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Grizzlies came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 5-1 on Tuesday.
Cambree Cooper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Leila Pauni was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Miley Allen, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
Logan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Morgan). They put the hurt on South Summit with a sharp 24-11 win on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the sixth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.
Morgan got a massive performance out of Kaiya Peterson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gwen Rickard, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs.
Morgan has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Logan, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Logan hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. However, it's not like Morgan struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Logan came up short against Morgan when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 5-2. Will the Grizzlies have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
