Titusville has gone 8-2 against Franklin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Rockets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Knights at 4:00 p.m. Titusville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Titusville took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Sharon by a score of 11-6. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Rockets considering their two-run performance the match before.
Jaxon Covell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Covell was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Brody Sellen was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Ian McDonald, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Titusville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sharon only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, Franklin had just enough and edged out Slippery Rock 4-3 on Thursday.
Like Titusville, Franklin also got a great game from a two-way player: Nate Fezell. He pitched 6.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Fezell was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Franklin is undefeated when Fezell posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise.
Fezell wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Evan Turner, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Drew Kockler was another, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.
The victory got Franklin back to even at 6-6. As for Titusville, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Franklin's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Titusville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. It's a different story for Franklin, though, as they've only averaged .249. Will they be able to contain Titusville's hitters?
Titusville took their victory against Franklin in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 19-3 score. Will the Rockets repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
