Basketball Recap: Key West Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Key West easily dispatched Marathon last Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Key West Conchs fell just short of the Miami Beach Hi-Tides by a score of 58-55 on Friday. The Conchs' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Key West lost, don't look at James Osborne. Despite the final result, he went 13 for 23 on his way to 28 points and six rebounds. The matchup was Osborne's third in a row with at least ten points. Dylan Martinez was another key player, putting up six points along with five boards and three steals.

Miami Beach had a senior duo take command as Baptiste T posted 16 points in addition to five assists and three steals and Shirpsen Jean put up 20 points and eight boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jean has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Rebhuhn, who had ten points.

Key West's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-4. As for Miami Beach, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Key West wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 84-77 win against Manatee on the 14th. Miami Beach will take on Hialeah Gardens in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Miami Beach knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Hialeah Gardens likes a good challenge.
