Anthony's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julie Cuellar, who scored 29 points. That was a full 64.4% of Anthony's points, marking the 21st time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelee Guerro, who scored 16 points.
Wink's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aizlyn Dewberry led the charge by dropping a double-double on 29 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Finley Frerich, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Anthony has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season. As for Wink, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-8.
Anthony will head out on the road to challenge McCamey at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McCamey has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1. As for Wink, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fort Hancock at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Hancock is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games.
