The Raymond Central Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 46-32 bruising from David City. While losing is never fun, Raymond Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while David City is ranked 77th).
David City was led to victory by Clayton Zavodny and Reese Svoboda. Zavodny scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Svoboda scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Svoboda pulled down eight or more rebounds. Brock Dubbs was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Raymond Central's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-12. As for David City, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.
Raymond Central won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Louisville at 2:00 p.m. on January 20th. Louisville is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for David City, they will be playing at home against Mead at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
