Atchison County has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Rossville Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On January 5th, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Atchison County made off with a 44-43 win over Oskaloosa.
It was another big night for Kinzee Bauerle, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Atchison County's points. Another player making a difference was Madison Martin, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Rossville entered their tilt with St. Marys with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Rossville claimed a resounding 72-37 victory over St. Marys at home. Rossville has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 25 points or more this season.
Atchison County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 3-5 record this season. As for Rossville, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1.
Atchison County didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Rossville in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 68-62 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Atchison County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
