This week's postseason excitement didn't throw the rankings into complete disarray, but it did reorder the standings a decent amount. A special shoutout goes to Mountain Pointe's senior Nick Wallerstedt, who scored six total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Can't Touch This
Cienega got a 49 - 28 win over Marana last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Terrell Hayward. Hayward rushed for 306 yards and three touchdowns. That performance landed Hayward among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The clash of the power ranking titans last week was between Red Mountain (12th in the power rankings) and Queen Creek (13th). It was a close one, but Red Mountain sidestepped Queen Creek for the 37 - 34 win. One star in particular for Red Mountain was senior Darren Smith, who threw for 343 yards and four touchdowns.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Mountain Pointe (7th in the power rankings) and Chandler (1st). Both teams have their heads held high after dominating their previous opponents. Chandler and Mountain Pointe both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (Chandler with eight and Mountain Pointe with five), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
