The Signal Mountain Eagles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They had just enough and edged Silverdale Academy out 80-78. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
When it comes to explaining why Silverdale Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kennedy Okpara. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 33 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Okpara has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brett Wright, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Signal Mountain has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Silverdale Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 24-3.
Signal Mountain won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Hixson has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19. Silverdale Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
