The Tularosa Wildcats and the Eunice Cardinals squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Tularosa Wildcats had to settle for second. Tularosa took a serious blow against Eunice, falling 54-0. Tularosa's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Eunice's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Melancon, who threw for 227 yards and five touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Eljan Woods, who rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries.
Tularosa's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Eunice, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2.
Tularosa does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Eunice will head out on the road to face off against Texico at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Texico will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
