Hillcrest is 10-0 against Monroe County since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hillcrest Jaguars will look to defend their home court against the Monroe County Tigers at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Hillcrest's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matchups.
Hillcrest can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 91-54 victory over Thomasville at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 48-23.
Hillcrest relied on the efforts of Jermonte Stallworth, who scored 22 points, and Robert Simpson, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and six blocks. Simpson hasn't dropped below two blocks for eight straight games. Jordan Bonner was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, Monroe County didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Excel on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 51-45 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Monroe County.
Hillcrest's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points per game. As for Monroe County, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.
Hillcrest beat Monroe County 64-52 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Will Hillcrest repeat their success, or does Monroe County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
