It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the South Pasadena Tigers can now relate to. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 74-73 to the Eagles. South Pasadena's loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Russell Williams, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jack Madison, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Charles Knight continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Valley View, scoring 36 points along with three steals and two blocks. Knight is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Jonah Cowart was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
South Pasadena's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 23-7. As for Valley View, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-11.
South Pasadena does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Valley View, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against St. Bonaventure at 7:00 p.m. St. Bonaventure knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matchups -- so hopefully Valley View likes a good challenge.
