The Clinton Cardinals will head out on the road to square off against the Summit Christian Academy Eagles on Tuesday. Clinton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 474th, while Summit Christian Academy is ranked 74th).
Clinton's six-game losing streak came to an end on January 5th. They came out on top against Odessa by a score of 64-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meanwhile, Summit Christian Academy strolled past Van Horn with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 42-25. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Summit Christian Academy has scored all year.
Summit Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Mike Thomas iii, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. Thomas iii hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Max Rieger, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Clinton's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-9. As for Summit Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.
Clinton was taken down by Summit Christian Academy 84-29 in their previous matchup on January 3rd. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Thomas iii, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds.
