While losing is never fun, Poplar Bluff can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Howell is ranked 11th).
Jackson posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They skirted past Ladue Horton Watkins 53-51. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Jackson.
Poplar Bluff's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5. As for Jackson, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6.
Poplar Bluff didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Jackson in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 49-45 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Jackson's Kole Deck, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds.
