The Air Academy Kadets can now show off 15 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mesa Ridge 82-29 at home. The win was familiar territory for Air Academy who now have 14 in a row.
Air Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lydia Flowers, who scored 26 points along with seven assists and seven steals. Caitlin Kramer was another key contributor, scoring 25 points along with two steals.
Mesa Ridge lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bray Pelt, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds. Pelt hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Desiray Rosario, who scored seven points.
Air Academy pushed their record up to 20-1 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Mesa Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Air Academy will challenge Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lutheran will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Air Academy is ranked 12th). As for Mesa Ridge, they will head out on the road to take on Canon City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Canon Citypresents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mesa Ridge in Colorado (Canon City is ranked 100th, while Mesa Ridge is ranked 215th).
