The AIMS College Prep Golden Eagles waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Envision Academy by a score of 75-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Nahom Solomon was his usual excellent self, scoring 29 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Caleb Ketema was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Envision Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Chuka Achinulo, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 26 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Achinulo has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ghaith Omar, who scored 23 points along with six steals.
Envision Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as AIMS College Prep racked up 12 assists.
AIMS College Prep is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Envision Academy, they dropped their record down to 4-11-1 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
AIMS College Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Envision Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st. Hopefully John Henry focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Wednesday.
