Phoebus hasn't had much luck against Warwick recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Phantoms are taking a road trip to take on the Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Phoebus is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Phoebus will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Norcom on Monday. The Phantoms blew past the Greyhounds 33-2. The Phantoms' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Evan Trantham made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, five runs, and three RBI. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.
In other batting news, Zaine Norris was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and six RBI. Those RBI were his first of the season. Josiah Moore was another key player, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with five runs, four RBI, and one triple.
Phoebus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .658. The last time their batting average was this high was was before the start of last season.
Windsor hit Warwick with a five-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Raiders came up short against the Dukes, falling 11-1. The contest marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Warwick's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Phoebus, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
Phoebus might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Warwick in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Phantoms avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
