Farragut and Gibbs are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Admirals will challenge the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Farragut 3.1, Gibbs 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Farragut not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 3rd (when they won 13-2). They never let William Blount get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Admirals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 contests by six runs or more this season.
Hallie Grace Johnson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since April 3rd.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elsa Morrison, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Logan Jameson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Farragut always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as William Blount only posted an OBP of .000.
Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Gibbs ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Halls 3-2. The victory was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on five straight.
Shelby Williams was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Gibbs pushed their record up to 28-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Farragut, their record is now 23-9-1.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Farragut hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like Gibbs struggles in that department as they've averaged .423. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Farragut skirted past Gibbs 5-4 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Admirals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
