The Southern Door Eagles will square off against the Crivitz Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Southern Door's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Crivitz's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Southern Door's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over Kewaunee.
Madyson Counard was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crivitz). Everything went their way against Wausaukee on Monday as they made off with a 14-7 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Rangers: they've now won six in a row.
Isabelle Danielczak spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hattie Frievalt, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiya Brand, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Crivitz kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Southern Door is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Crivitz, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 5-6.
Everything went Southern Door's way against Crivitz in their previous meeting back in April of 2018, as Southern Door made off with a 13-0 win. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Wolverines have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
