Baseball Game Preview: Evangelical Christian Sentinels vs. IMG Academy Silver Ascenders

The Evangelical Christian Sentinels will venture away from home to square off against the IMG Academy Silver Ascenders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Evangelical Christian took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against LaBelle, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Sentinels had just enough and edged out the Cowboys/Cowgirls 5-4. That's two games straight that the Sentinels have won by just one run.

Boston Gibbs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Harlan Haugen was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Ryder Lutz, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, IMG Academy Silver waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Spartans a 10-0 shutout.

Matias Castillo looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, IMG Academy Silver got a big performance out of JP Piles, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Will Zyblock was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

IMG Academy Silver always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

IMG Academy Silver's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Evangelical Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-11.
