Maya Guzman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 18 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.
Guzman wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Shrader, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Central Valley got the win against Pitman last Tuesday by a conclusive 26-2.
Like Riverbank, Central Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Brooklynn Steeley. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Furthermore, Steeley didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in February of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.
In other batting news, Reylena Herrera was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Abigail Krauss was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Central Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .698. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pitman only posted an OBP of .318.
